The Belgian lingerie group VanDeVelde and the Norwegian book distributor SentralDistribusjon are the latest companies to benefit from Knapp's considerable retail and e-tail expertise.

The firms are taking delivery of the OSR Shuttle semi-automated storage and picking solution. Based on the goods-to-picker principle, the OSR Shuttle stores and retrieves goods using independent shuttles on each level, with goods transported to and from ergonomic pick-to-light stations via a lift and conveyor loop.

This technology can pick 500-800 orders per hour, per aisle and picking station, which is 3-5 times higher than a traditional miniload solution.

Knapp also has dedicated solutions for the e-commerce sector, which have featured in systems for bluechip companies including John Lewis and Amway. Knapp's £25 million logistics solution for John Lewis incorporates picking for retail stores and the company's direct-tocustomer business. The system includes 8.4km of conveyors, over a quarter of a million bin storage stations, 52 decant stations, 44 packing and 33 picking stations.

In addition, Amway, the direct selling company, operates an ecommerce solution supplied by Knapp.
