10 minute conveyor change April 1st 2005 The quick release mechanism of Gramac powered belt bends enables two maintenance engineers to change a damaged or worn conveyor in less than 10 minutes, according to Quartz Systems.
Corner units and bends require more frequent servicing than straight sections – and maintenance usually requires removing the belt from the rollers – causing downtime. A conventional unit normally comprises a frame on which frusto-conical rollers are mounted to support the conveyor belt.
Tension is applied to the belt by separate movement of the end rollers of the unit, and to prevent the belt moving in towards the inner radius of the corner a restraining mechanism is fitted on the outer edge.
Gramac’s design differs from conventional belt curve technology in that it releases the guide wheel assembly along with the belt, simply by loosening the locking bolts, allowing a vulcanised belt change with considerable speed, according to the company.
Latest versions of the corner unit have the bolt locking mechanism to provide quicker separation of the track way parts. More articles from Gramac Quartz Systems: |
