Belt drive helps cut machine downtime December 1st 2004 Interroll says its belt drives are helping Marden Edwards maintain its position as a leading supplier of over-wrapping machines.
Until recently the company used motors and gearboxes fitted with variators for manually adjusting speed control. These were bulky, unsightly, and posed maintenance problems. In redesigning its machines, Marden Edwards sought a sleeker, modern look based on cheaper, more reliable drives.
The Interroll 113S met these requirements. It uses an inverter to control speed adjustment, so is virtually maintenance-free. There are no problems, for example, in changing friction ring linings inherent with variators, or from occasional dripping oil from worm gear boxes. The belt drive, rated at 0.18kW, is said to be safer than the motor and gearbox drives based on variators. More articles from Interroll Automation: |
