Conveyors take away pizza October 1st 2008 When a producer and
distributor of chilled foods
wanted to transfer individual
and stacked film-wrapped
pizza bases between high
and low care food quality
areas, Conveyor Systems
(CSL) provided the solution.
In a high risk area on the
first floor, conveyors had to
interface with two film
wrappers and transport
pizza bases downwards via
an overhead conveyor in a
high care area to a low care
ground floor packing hall.
CSL designed a modular
plastic matt declining
conveyor fitted with FDAapproved
high friction
gripper inserts to prevent
the pizza bases slipping. The
conveyor was constructed in
food quality stainless steel,
with a single frame carrying
two individual lanes of
modular matt conveyor to
provide flexibility.
In the high care area, the
conveyor continued in a
long overhead run and, at
the end of this span, the
pizza bases are conveyed
through a wall and down a
decline to the 'low care'
packaging hall. At floor level,
the conveyor splits to feed
two two-tier packing stations. More articles from Conveyor Systems Limited: |
