Cutting the Lyons' share of prawn waste

The Belting Division of Habasit Rossi has installed a HabasitLINK M5014 PE Natural Nub Top conveyor fitted with flights and side walls at Lyons Seafoods to transport frozen prawns and reduce prawn waste.

Previously, prawns were sticking to the flat chain conveyor and consequently not being deposited in the correct place and falling on the underside of the belt.

The failing system was creating between five and six 25kg buckets of waste prawns every day, but the company's existing conveyor supplier could not offer a solution.

Already happy with its Habasit screening belts, used to screen out bad prawns, Lyons turned to Habasit with the project.

Habasit made a detailed assessment of the situation and recommended and arranged for the design of a swan neck nub top belt.

Customer service and Tel: 0870 835 9555 351 speed of delivery from Habasit clinched the deal with Lyons Seafoods. Habasit Belting Division was able to move the project from its design stages right through to delivering the conveyor to Lyon's in just one week.

Now fully operational, the HabasitLINK M5014 PE Natural Nub Top conveyor, and in particular its nub top surface, has more than proved itself. In fact, the new belt is saving Lyons Seafoods in the region of £2000 per week, due to reduction in waste prawns.
