Efficiency increased by 70% February 1st 2005 The world’s largest kilt hire company, ACS Clothing of Glasgow has recently moved into a new hi-tech, 10,000 kilt capacity, warehouse.
Capable of handling 6000 full Highland outfits per hour, the overhead garment handling system is fully controlled and automated through the use of barcodes and bespoke distribution technology supplied and installed by Keymas.
The garment handling system incorporates the Stockrail overhead ‘Hangerglide’ rail system, allowing the company to track every item in the warehouse system through distribution, hire and return. It also enables ACS to receive and dispatch orders with as little as 24 hours notice.
According to ACS managing director, Richard Freeman, the new system has resulted in a 70% increase in handling efficiency and has the flexibility to meet proposed expansion plans.
For the accurate picking and processing of garments, Keymas has ‘mapped’ the storage facility, enabling the subsystem to provide full traceability of each item.
This provides greater control over stock availability. More articles from Keymas Limited: |
