Mixed salad machines integrated August 1st 2008 Langmead Farms, supplier of
quality salad products,
constantly reviews its
processes to provide the best
quality products in the most
cost effective and efficient
way. Having installed stateof-
the art
baggers,
check
weighers and
metal
detectors for
packing of
lettuce,
spinach and
green salads,
Langmead Farms installed a
new space saving mezzanine
floor to locate automatic
cardboard tray erectors.
Conveyor Systems Ltd was
awarded the contract to
integrate and interface all the
equipment, supplying
erected cardboard trays from
the upper level down to
packers on the ground floor.
The CSL system transports
erected cardboard trays at
speeds of up to 20 per
minute per line, down a
stainless steel chute and
though the mezzanine floor
on to a suspended overhead
powered roller conveyor,
around a 180° bend and
down a further chute to be
stored above the packing
line. The empty containers
are held at the optimum level
for personnel to remove
them individually for packing
into the cardboard trays.
Powered roller conveyors
take the trays to the end of
line for palletising and
onward loading of vehicles.
Head of operations for
Langmead Farms, Steven
Weild reported, "CSL worked
closely with us to design the
system which helped us
retain a more open ground
floor level and this works
very well." More articles from Conveyor Systems Limited: |
