New modular pallet conveyor system
December 1st 2004 A new modular pallet conveyor system has been designed and manufactured by FKI Logistex Conveyors at the former Dexion conveyor factory at Gainsborough. Comprising heavy duty chain conveyor, roller conveyor, chain transfer and turntable modules, the new flexible pallet conveyor system is designed to handle the full range of euro-pallet sizes as well as the popular Chep type 1200 x 1000mm pallet, with loads up to 1500kg. Variable drive speeds from 12 to 18m/min allow FKI Conveyor systems to be fine tuned to the application.
With conveyor modules from 1300 to 3600 mm using heavy duty 3/4 pitch flat sided link chain in two and three chain versions, the new chain conveyor is said to meet industry requirements for a robust system that can be installed and maintained easily. The conveyor channel and variable width cross-members, include provision for integral cableways where required, with the option of a pre-fitted junction box to eliminate the need for electrical trunking. The system is bolted together from standard components for easy assembly.
It has 3 or 5mm thick steel conveyor roller walls as standard. Rollers are driven tangentially by 5/8 pitch chain in fully enclosed side channels. Pallet loads up to 1500kg can be handled as standard and the conveyor modular sections, from 1500 to 4500mm lengths, will convey up to 4500kg. Roller pitches from 150 to 250mm ensure all pallet types can be accommodated.
The modular design of the system includes attention to possible finger traps and safe operation. All drives are enclosed and the drive shafts rotate inside a protective sleeve. Chains can be inspected, tensioned and lubricated without the need to remove safety guards. Load sensors may be fitted anywhere along the conveyor section length. More articles from FKI Logistex: |
