Order picking efficiencies improvedFebruary 1st 2004
CPC, part of the international Premier Farnell Group, appointed conveying specialist Transnorm System to automate handling through to despatch and improve order picking efficiencies in its warehouse.
Complete packed barcoded orders are transported to the despatch area via an inclined belt conveyor to feed a powered roller conveyor, which incorporates further Transnorm SmartSort divert wheel modules.
Datalogic long range barcode scanners interface with the PLC to allow product tracking, identifying the order and automatically diverting cartons on to belt/roller conveyors directly into awaiting UPS vehicles, or transport the cartons directly to loading bins for distribution by Royal Mail and local carriers.
