Stainless steel screw conveyors
August 1st 2004

Solids handling expert, Vibrair, has designed, manufactured and commissioned a mobile 3-stage sugar handling system for a US confectionery manufacturer. The system features two Vibrair Flexflite flexible screw conveyors and a vibratory sieve. It is used to transfer virgin and re-circulated sugar to and from the main extrusion line.

The 75mm diameter Flexflite conveyors transfer around 500kg per hour a distance of four metres to a transition hopper above a sugar sprinkler. Any unsieved sugar is collected from a belt conveyor and transferred back up to the sieve before onward transfer back to the sprinkler.

All hoppers and conveying tubes are manufactured in 304 stainless steel. The two Flexflite conveyors feature 316 stainless steel spirals, geared motors and quick release, interlocked couplings.
