Reduction in northern road miles April 1st 2009 Palletline has established a
new Northern Hub to
handle traffic for the North
of England and Scotland.
The Hub will greatly reduce
road miles for pallets
collected and delivered
inside these regions.
Palletline says research
into traffic movements in
the northern half of the UK
led the company to
relocate its Northern Hub to
optimise accessibility and
improve operational costs
for member companies.
Based at a recently
constructed 40,000ft2
distribution centre on the
Global Logistics (UK) site in
Trafford Park, Manchester,
the new Northern Hub
commenced operations on 9
February 2009.
Palletline says during the
first week, the Hub achieved
over 99% scanning accuracy,
reflecting the strong
emphasis placed on training
and preparation for the
launch.
Complementing the
activities of Palletline's Central
Hub in the West Midlands
and the new London Hub
and Consolidation Centre in
Middlesex, the Northern Hub
also integrates seamlessly
into the established track and
trace system, allowing
Palletline member companies
and their customers to track
consignments accurately and
easily regardless of the hub
route selected for their traffic.
Initial calculations suggest
a potential reduction in road
miles in the region of 15%. More articles from Palletline Plc: |
