Ramdoor prevents heat loss for food warehouse September 1st 2011 Door installed to maintain consistent
warehouse temperature brings a range
of additional benefits
Union Industries installed a Ramdoor at family food
business Bennett Opie. The heavy duty door is in the
main warehouse area of Bennett Opie's large production
and distribution centre in Sittingbourne, Kent.
Previously the company used uPVC strip curtains to cover the
main warehouse doorway, which proved to be inefficient and
impractical. Through its fast opening and closing speeds, Union's
rapid action door ensures that Bennett Opie can maintain a
consistent temperature within the building by protecting the
interior from the elements, at the same time assisting in
improving the hygiene standards on site.
Security has also been increased following the installation of
the Ramdoor as the door is activated by radio control
transmitters which are issued to certain Bennett Opie staff only.
The Ramdoor also features Union's Crash-Out damage
protection facility, which ensures that the door remains operable
if the heavy duty steel composite bottom beam is hit by a
speeding vehicle.
James Jennings,
maintenance manager from
Bennett Opie, says: "We are
always looking at ways of
enhancing our operations and
productivity. Union's high
speed door helps maintain a
consistent flow of traffic in
and out of the building and
supports our environmental
commitment by preventing
heat loss.We have been very
impressed with the Ramdoor
and the benefits it has given to
our warehouse area." More articles from Union Industries: |
