Lean, clean box machine April 1st 2008 In addition to the Henry
vacuum cleaner, Numatic
International in Chard, offers
more than 4000 industrial
cleaning products. Many are
built to order, requiring a
vast range of box sizes.
Stocking hundreds of
different box sizes especially
for lower volume products
became an issue for the
company as it looked to
reduce inventory levels and
adopt wherever possible,
just-in-time manufacturing
systems.
It decided to make in
house boxes for lower
volume and special
products. It now buys one
standard stock size of sheet
corrugated board, helping to
reduce inventory levels and
factory storage space.
Printed or plain boxes for
high volume products
remain out-sourced.
Autobox supplied the box
making system. A Model
SC164 Slitter cuts correct
sized blanks from the
corrugated sheet. A Model
Boxmaker 1070 then slots
and creases the blanks ready
for finishing with a hot melt
glue gun or pneumatic
stapler, also supplied by
Autobox. The 1070 stores
frequently used sizes in the
machine memory or can be
changed to produce a
different sized box in less
than 1min. The entire
system requires just one
person to operate. More articles from Autobox Machinery Ltd: |
