Voice of the timber packaging industry
February 1st 2009

During 2008 the timber industry has seen fluctuations in timber prices and escalating energy, transport and raw material costs. In the face of these challenges, Timcon (Timber Packaging and Palleting Confederation) provided an industry voice, highlighting the sustainable qualities of wood and reinforcing the message that for a complete, cost effective solution, timber remains a natural solution.

With the launch of its new website at the beginning of the year, Timcon provided both timber packaging manufacturers and purchasers with a comprehensive and informative industry tool.

With downloadable carbon fact sheets and the environmental benefits of using wood packaging explained in detail, the site provides information on the latest industry developments and legislation, complete with compliance guidelines and a Q&A section.

More recently, the Timcon training scheme has been launched online, enabling members to advance their employees' industry skills and knowledge through in-house training modules.

Timcon's partnership with PalletLink, the UK's only advisory association to offer unbiased advice on all technical aspects of pallets and packaging, has also proved a success – providing Timcon members with access to the extensive specialist technical support facilities available from PalletLink.
