Wraps random cross sections
April 1st 2006

Aetna UK has been awarded a second contact to supply a Spiror 400HP to aluminium extruder Alcoa for its factory in Banbury.

The machine is equipped with all the features required to wrap aluminium without damage. Features such as polyurethane drive rollers, automatic top pressure rollers, infeed and outfeed conveyors and automatic side roller adjustment make the machine suitable for the demanding duty cycle and random cross sectional pieces that characterise the Alcoa application.

The 400 model can handle product groupings from 25mm to 300mm wide and from 20mm to 200mm tall without adjustment. The machine requires a minimum length of 800mm, though there is no practicable maximum length. For larger sections, Robopac makes eight different ring sizes up to a maximum 2500mm.

A touch screen display and the ability to store ten separate programmes are standard features and the machine is guarded to CE requirements. Standard film from 15 to 50microns thick, both plain and printed, can be used.

Using stretch film is a cheap and effective way to keep the packs tight during transportation. The Spiro's maximum speed of 30m per min also means that the time taken to wrap the products has been reduced.
