Advanced tow truck from BT February 1st 2005 BT Rolatruck says its new TSE300 is a high performance stand-in truck for a wide range of towing and order picking duties demanding intensive work with loads up to three tonnes.
Designed for efficiency, safety and ease-of-use, BT says this is largely achieved by a completely new steering system called Eman.
A mini tiller arm offers power-assisted steering that can be safely operated with only one hand. The operators hand need never be outside the profile of the truck, says BT, because a 60° movement in the tiller arm provides 100° of lock on the steering.
An optional feature is that, at the flick of a switch, the whole control unit can be moved towards the right or left hand side of the truck body, to suit each operator and each operation.
A platform switch limits the maximum speed, and the steering angle to a maximum of 20°, when the operator is not in the driver compartment. Maximum speed is also limited at steering angles greater than 25°. For convenience, the drive wheel automatically centres when the tiller arm is released.
BT says the TSE300’s Powerdrive benefits include simple CAN-Bus wiring which connects a central processor to a powerful and efficient separately excited motor.
The company says the simplicity of the Powerdrive means fewer components – increasing reliability and reducing maintenance. It claims smooth powerful performance is assured in all conditions due to the combination of the motor and switchless control system. Electronic braking reduces drive wheel wear, which, according to BT, improves operating times by up to 10%. More articles from Toyota Material Handling UK: |
