Lay waste to dirt and grease
February 1st 2005

Engineering facilities represent a challenging working environments for cleaning machines. Dirt, grease and waste must be dealt with quickly and effectively to maintain facility integrity – which is why Ewart F Youlden, and Essexbased manufacturer of vehicle-mounted hosereels, purchased a Salla combined sweeper and scrubber dryer from Duplex.

Its steel chassis is designed to endure demanding treatment in an industrial environment. In scrubber dryer mode the twin cylindrical contra rotating brushes and rear squeegee clean and dry floors within a few passes. In sweeper mode the brushes become a powerful vacuum assisted sweeper. 700m2 of flooring can be cleaned an hour and with the optional 10 metre hose, one machine and operator can provide a total cleaning solution, according to Duplex. As its design prioritises robustness, the company says the time and money spent on maintenance can be minimal.

“We required a machine to regularly sweep large amounts of steel and aluminium swarf produced by the grinders, lathes and CNC equipment and also scrub the grease that collects on the floor from the cutting oil”, commented General Manager Ian Cumming. “The Salla has the versatility and power to do this, saving manpower and maintaining our high standards.” Duplex is happy to provide free, no obligation on site product demonstrations.
