Air curtain provides enhanced visibility February 1st 2006 The CoolEffect air curtain from JS AirCurtains removes the need for PVC slat curtains on refrigerated stores, providing forklift drivers with high levels of visibility when manoeuvring in and out.
The CoolEffect is situated above a chill store or freezer doorway and blasts ambient air down the front of the opening to prevent cool air from escaping and heat from entering. Unlike plastic slat curtains, which lose transparency as they become scratched and dirty with use, an air curtain provides unhindered visibility throughout its life.
According to the company, CoolEffect provides very effective thermal barriers on refrigerated doorways. At an installation at Nature's Way Food in Chichester, the JS air curtain maintained a temperature of 2°C directly inside a chill store, when previously there were hot spots of up to 8°C by the door.
The CoolEffect air curtain comprises a plastic coated steel case containing double-sided radial fans operated by a 5-speed fan controller. Ambient air is drawn in through a perforated steel mesh at the front of the unit and delivered down the doorway via adjustable louvres, giving fresh air distribution and an effective seal.
Units are available in 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5m lengths and can be used on door heights up to 5m.
