It's curtains for wasted heat energy June 1st 2007 Industrial over-door air
curtains from Airbloc are
providing an energy-saving
heating solution for British
Airways at its Premia special
handling cargo centre at
Heathrow Airport.
Airbloc air curtains were
fitted to all loading bay
doors – a total of 15 Airbloc
AB300, 400 and 500
industrial air curtains – by
Derry Building Services.
Mounted above the
doorways, the gas-heated
air curtains operate at full
heat when the doors are
open, but automatically
drop to low speed when the
doors are closed again. Heat
produced by the air curtains
is used to supplement the
main heating system within
the cargo building. The
economical operation of
both the air curtains and the
heating system can then be
maintained. Air curtains
deliver a sheet of warmed
(or ambient) air across a
doorway which effectively
separates two environments
– in this case, internal and
external air. The air curtain
keeps out external air up to
a wind speed of 11mph,
while warm air from inside
cannot escape More articles from Ambirad Ltd: |
