Won’t cream cracker your batteries

Hawker Motive Power batteries and chargers are powering United Biscuits’ lift truck fleet around the clock at its Midlands DC.

Producing 80 million cases of household brands such as McVities and Jacobs each year, United Biscuits says the system has provided energy savings and improvements in battery ‘housekeeping’, while significantly reducing the risk of cell damage – thereby extending battery life.

All electric lift trucks are equipped with Hawker’s PerfectPlus high performance batteries – two batteries for each truck. Hawker has also refurbished the two battery charging areas located around the warehouse.

These are now equipped with Hawker Powertech high frequency (HF) chargers, which, claims Hawker, offer up to 20% more energy efficiency than 50Hz chargers.

Battery management systems, with smart diagnostic software, are installed in both rooms.
