Marked safety and efficiency June 1st 2006 ASG Services, leading supplier of durable floor marking systems, has recently completed work with Port of Tyne on a major project aimed at improving safety and efficiency of its multi-unit facility on Tyneside.
Specialists in direct road, rail and sea connections, Port of Tyne offers a complete supply chain management service from importation to delivery.
Problems associated with a previously installed floor marking system prompted the organisation to turn to ASG Services to overcome severe cracking and damage noted with the existing material.
A combination of fork truck movements and an original coating better suited to external rather than internal environments was identified by ASG Services as the cause of the problem. A solution of continuous replacement was ruled out as it could incur on-going costs over a lengthy period of time.
ASG Service's advanced floor marking methods and purpose-designed machinery were used to prepare and then coat the floor with a 2- part-epoxy paint. The completed work now features 1727 linear metres of floor lines, alongside numbers and letters that clearly identify areas for temporary pallet storage, pedestrian walkways and parking with restriction zones also clearly marked.
