Coating designed to reduce slip-ups October 1st 2008 CG Flooring Systems has
refurbished 475m2 of floor
space for Tappex Thread
Inserts in Stratford-upon-
Avon, providing a chemical
resistant anti-slip coating to
improve the operational and
aesthetic requirements of
the floor.
The existing anti-slip
coating was de-bonding and
the brief was to install a
new system similar to that in
other areas of the factory. A
'sandwich' system using
sand blinding of aggregate
between two coats of
industrial strength coating
was chosen in two colours.
The project had to be
completed during a weeklong
shutdown.
Key to the success of the
installation and future
performance of the floor
was ensuring that correct
and detailed preparation
took place. A lot of cutting
oils are used in the
production process at the
factory and oil had
penetrated the substrate.
Therefore, shot-blasting and
burning followed closely by
encapsulating the substrate
with an epoxy primer
completed the initial stages.
This ensured full decontamination
of the
substrate and the floor was
then ready to receive the
new flooring system.
Challenges raised were
effectively overcome and
the project was completed
from initial enquiry to
installation in less than two
weeks. More articles from C G Flooring Systems Ltd: |
