Corporation relies upon an installation
of loading bay equipment from Stertil
Stokvis to ensure safe and efficient
operation within an Atex Zone 2 area
at its manufacturing and distribution
site at Deeside in Flintshire,Wales.
Atex Zones are areas which must
be protected from effective sources of
ignition and are classified into
numbered zones: 0, 1, 2 for gasvapour-
mist and 20, 21, 22 for dust.
Equipment and protective systems to
be used in zoned areas must meet
specific regulatory requirements.
Atex Zone 2 classification relates to
the installation of equipment and
machinery and Stertil Stokvis was
chosen to supply loading bay
equipment which would fully meet
the requirements of the directive.
The Deeside operation sees an
average of 25 trailers and container
vehicles a week arriving to load and
unload palletised drums and IBCs.
The equipment supplied and
installed by Stertil Stokvis included a
six tonne capacity telescopic lip dock
leveller - type XP22-21, a WI fullyinflatable
dock shelter, a roller
shutter door, specially-extended PE
dock bumpers and a Combilok
vehicle restraint system.

compliance with all Atex Zone 2
