Ergonomic emptying of containers April 1st 2009 Home furnishings retailer,
JYSK uses Caljan Rite-Hite's
ergonomic conveyor solution
to empty sea containers at its
vast European storage and
distribution facility.
Telescopic boom conveyors,
each fitted with a vacuum
lifting aid, traverse between
multiple doors, enabling the
operator to empty containers
swiftly and ergonomically.
According to Caljan, use of
this equipment means a high
level of activity can be
maintained throughout the
shift without compromising
employee welfare.
When a container backs
up to the door, the operator
lines up the BeltTrack by
moving it along rails in the
concrete floor. Using the
joystick at the head of the
machine, the operator is able
to extend the conveyor belt
so it reaches inside the
container. Sensors fitted to
the top of the lifting aid
register the framework of the
door and reduce the height
accordingly – extending
automatically to full
operating height once inside
the container. The operator
can then use the lifting aid to
lift and place each box on
the conveyor belt. More articles from Caljan Rite-Hite Limited: |
