Impact by design September 1st 2010 Pickerings Lifts has become the UK distributor for TKO dock doors, which are designed
to resist the impact of fork lift trucks
TKO doors are designed to
resist impact, providing
years of use without the
panel and track damage associated
with conventional overhead and
sectional doors, says distributor
Pickerings.
The impact resistant doors are
manufactured by 4Front
Engineered Solutions and
Pickerings has installed the doors
for customers in the UK, including
high street retailers and a major
supermarket chain.
The doors are designed for use
in high-traffic loading areas such as
food facilities, large warehouses
and refrigerated docks.When a
TKO door experiences an impact,
the door panel releases from its
track, minimising costs. After impact, the door can be reset by
pulling the plunger cable or the door handles to bring the
panels back into the door tracks.
Marcus Clissold, national supply chain manager at
Pickerings Lifts says: "The quick-fix aspect of the TKO doors
mean that distribution centres don't experience any downtime,
with no need to stop traffic to re-fit the door, or fit a new
door.
"In the long run, this means maintenance costs for the door
over its life cycle go down – as fewer repairs mean greater
uptime and controlled costs."
Clissold adds: "The environmental benefits can't be
overlooked. Many sites, such as refrigerated facilities, need to
be kept at a regular temperature. However, there's often a
temptation to leave doors open if they're difficult to operate.
The TKO doors are easier to operate regularly, and the
materials they're made from keep heat in or out as required."
Along with the TKO doors, Pickerings Lifts Supply Chain has
also become the sole UK distributor for Kelley and Serco Loading
Dock Equipment, Loadhog Modular Dock Bridges and APS
Resource Aftermarket Products. In line with this partnership,
Pickerings delivers customer service for installations and
maintenance support for existing
installations and refurbs. More articles from Pickerings Lifts Supply Chain Group: |
