Premier modular docking October 1st 2007 Although concrete docks
were originally chosen to
convert the selected
2,000m2 site of Whitbread's
Premier Travel Inn
distribution centre, Chase
Equipment's Modular
Docking System proved a
more flexible solution.
Chase converted the
ground level manufacturing
site to a distribution centre
able to accommodate a
number of 40t trucks
simultaneously, with the
ability to decant into small,
multi-drop local vehicles
quickly and safely. The
bespoke system allows for
modifications and additions
over time if plans change,
with minimum permanent
disruption to the building.
Two weeks after moving
in, a fire in the adjacent
timber depot and
subsequent damage to
Whitbread's own premises,
meant that immediate
temporary relocation was
necessary. The loading
docks, levellers, bridging
plates and associated
equipment, all unaffected by
the fire, were moved locally
by Chase and the customer
was up and running at full
capacity again within days.
"Chase Equpiment's
ability to relocate
equipment was tested
almost immediately due to
the fire damage, but the
company was able to
service our requirements
straight away," says Steve
Guy from Whitbread. More articles from Chase Equipment Limited: |
