Scissor lift for use in Zone 2

Logistics specialist Wincanton has installed a special Laweco scissor lift vehicle loading platform as part of a package of loading bay equipment supplied at the NDC it runs near Tamworth for a DIY chain.

A dedicated warehouse was built to store flammable goods. The presence of paints, aerosols, solvents and gases required compliance with DSEAR 2002, and the risk from flammable gases, mists or vapours required certification to ATEX Zone 2 standard.

An existing supplier to the site, Laweco designed and installed a 5000kg scissor lift loading platform.

As well as meeting health and safety requirements and enabling Wincanton to comply fully with the Work at Height Regulations, the relevant Zone 2 specifications were met. All equipment was delivered and installed to schedule.
