Compact & Bale recycles money February 1st 2005 Kent-based Fruit packaging company Mack Multiples is saving around £27,000 per annum using a Compact & Bale automatic horizontal baler with off dock rear feed conveyor.
The company recently upgraded its five-year-old semi-automatic baler – realising labour saving of 50-60%. It automatically generates 450-500kg wire tied bales from empty fruit boxes at a rate of around 3-4 tonnes per hour which are then delivered directly to the yard for off-loading using forklifts. This enables Mack Multiples to efficiently bale up to 50 tonnes of waste cardboard per week for resale for recycling. Rated to IP65 and fitted with rain covers and an oil heater it is installed outside Mack’s offloading dock to give maximum working area within the building.
“The money earned from recycling packaging pays for us to recycle other items from our waste – including office paper and plastic cups,” says technical director, Jon Usher. “As we only generate small amounts of office waste this would not otherwise be financially viable.” More articles from Compact & Bale Ltd: |
