HDX chipboard from Egger (UK) has been specified as mezzanine flooring for a new distribution centre for clothing and homeware retailer, Matalan.

More than 13,000m2 of Egger HDX P6/Class 0 foil reverse 38mm fire protected chipboard has been installed by SDI Greenstone at the 32,000m2 southern distribution centre.

The chipboard provides tiered mezzanine flooring for two semi-automated picking towers, which are used to store boxed goods and hanging garments.

The HDX boards were pre-cut into 2ft2 panels and surface coated with a special clear acrylic lacquer to provide additional durability and to prevent dust damage to clothing stock.
