Mezzanine is a recipe for success

The food and beverage division of Welconstruct Customer Solutions has won a new order for the design and construction of a mezzanine floor from Newport-based Bar & Restaurant Foods.

Driven by customer demand Bar & Restaurant Foods needed to extend its food preparation area by 90m2. It decided to achieve this using a mezzanine floor, meeting expansion needs within the existing footprint.

The company originally considered a concrete mezzanine floor design, but the slab loadings were such that it was not a viable option. Welconstruct Customer Solutions was able to offer a lighter construction option in the form of its traditional mezzanine design.

This was able to sit on the existing concrete slab and negated the need for disruptive and costly piling.
