Efficiency boost for John Lewis April 1st 2007 Installed with minimal disruption and no construction work, specialised loading bay equipment from Transdek UK has increased efficiency and reduced the cost of deliveries at two city-centre John Lewis stores.
The stores in Sheffield and Nottingham have underground delivery areas with restricted access which were previously serviced exclusively by 7.5t demountable trucks shuttling between the stores and an out-of-town distribution centre. They are now able to receive multi-deck trailers, reducing the number of deliveries required.
At the Sheffield store a mobile dock, which can be moved from one bay to another, is used with doubledeck or demountable trailers.
At the Nottingham store a Transdek mobile dock lift with a 2.25t capacity – sufficient for six standard roll cages – enables 13.6m long trunking trailers to deliver direct to the store. More articles from Transdek UK Ltd: |
