Bespoke solution for Tesco
April 1st 2008 When Tesco needed a
method of loading and
unloading its new fleet of
double deck trailers, used to
transfer goods between
distribution centres, Easilift
Loading Systems came up
with a solution.
Working with a major UK
lift supplier, it designed a
modular dock pod loading
system incorporating a
scissor lift to handle fixed
deck trailers.
The free-standing pods are
installed flush to the outside
of the distribution centres,
minimising disruption and
avoiding the loss of internal
floor area. The fabricated
side and roof frames are clad
with insulated wall panels to
create a sealed working
environment, with
electrically-operated
sectional overhead
Powerdoors fitted to the
front and rear of each pod.
Tesco chose a similar
system for its flagship
environmental store in Wick,
Scotland. This comprises two
modular loading pods, a 12
cage lifting platform for fixed
bed, high capacity doubledeck
trailers (used by Tesco
to save on delivery road
miles), a scissor lift, insulated
sectional doors and
