Bays get efficiency boost April 1st 2006 The efficiency of a series of loading bays at the Argos national distribution centre in Wolverhampton has been maximised thanks to Stertil Stokvis.
Severely restricted space meant that two of the 18 bays were effectively out of action.
Stertil designed a saw tooth dock at a 30° angle, providing more room for reversing vehicles, allowing both bays to return to full use. The new bays are sized to accommodate modern trailer designs, including mega- and multi-deck.
"It has been very frustrating to have 10% of our loading bays out of action," said Mark Burrows, site service manager. "Stertil's innovative solution has given us back this capacity and means we can bring the efficiency of the site back to the required level." More articles from Stertil UK Ltd: |
