Improved environmental conditions December 1st 2004 An unusual installation of Hart Door System's high-speed door, Speedor, has dramatically improved environmental conditions in a major glasshouse at New Lake Nursery, which was losing part of its chrysanthemum crop due to wind-chill.
According to nursery manager, Jim Willis, a high percentage of the crop grown along the central corridor was losing quality due to increased forklift traffic caused by the construction of a new pack house area.
The heat loss was also in conflict with the company's commitment to the climate change levy by which it aims to reduce energy consumption by 15% over the next 10 years.
The Speedor installation, which works automatically to reduce the amount of time a door stays open is working well and the crop has certainly improved, says Willis. More articles from Hart Door Systems Limited: |
