Undercover success for military
December 1st 2005

Rubb Buildings has completed a 'state of the art' dehumidified storage structure at RMB Chivenor base. Measuring 49.4m wide x 90m long with 5m side walls, this BVR building includes a separate partitioned area, four 3.5 by 5m high, electrically operated roller shutter doors and a total of seven pedestrian/fire doors.

Full services have been provided by Rubb including dehumidification, lighting, intruder detection, fire alarm, public address system, fume extraction, and even lightning protection.

The key benefit is the ability to store military hardware at the required level of dehumidification quickly and with great ease.

Relative humidity of 45% can be achieved in approximately two hours.

This compares very favourably with previous experience of using traditional constructed storage facilities where the 'pull down' time, ie. the time to achieve the required level of humidity, could be as long as 10 hours.

In addition, Rubb has introduced a 'fail safe' system to ensure that dehumidification levels are always reached as soon as possible, as building services have been fully integrated electronically.

When the roller shutter doors are opened, ventilation automatically comes on as dehumidification turns off and once the same doors are closed the process is reversed having first allowed for vent fans to compensate for fume detection.

The Rubb organisation, has production facilities in Great Britain, Norway and the United States and is quality certified to ISO 9001:2000.
