New arrivals in port October 1st 2004 Both Londonderry Port Authority and the Belfast Harbour Commission have specified Rubb buildings to satisfy dockside warehousing requirements.
Ease and speed of access were key considerations as the buildings were to house perishable items.
At Londonderry, the building was constructed close to the quay as, unlike traditional warehousing, deep foundations were not required. The building measures 145m in length, has a 40m span and 6.25m high side wall, and was designed to incorporate six roller shutter doors.
The project took just six months to complete and the building can be moved if necessary in the future.
At Belfast, a 175m long by 45m span warehouse was built with a 7m high sidewall. Ease of access was provided by six 12 by 6m openings with 2.5m deep canopies.
Rubb also designed and installed the roof mounted ventilation and lighting systems. More articles from Rubb Building Systems: |
