Peat producers at portAugust 1st 2008
Collinson has completed a port side building for peat producers Bord na Mona at the Port of Dublin. As the Port of Dublin is reclaimed land, a steel frame tension membrane structure was selected as foundation requirements were minimal.
The building is 30m x 25m span with 5m side wall and 7.3m max internal height. The steelwork is erected off a 1m height concrete ring beam (constructed by others) which acts as foundations for the building and protection from vehicular movements. A large sliding door, ventilation system and gutters/down pipes were also installed.
Best-Hall buildings are steel lattice superstructures covered with a tensioned PVC coated membrane. The white membrane enables high levels of natural light for energy efficiency.
