Permanent yet relocatable June 1st 2008 When Belfast Harbour
Commissioners wanted to
increase storage facilities,
the solution was provided by
Collinson with a Best-Hall
building for the port.
The project required a
building 72m long by 36.5m
wide with 8m clear height
to provide 27 500ft2/
2555m2 internal floor area.
Steelwork is erected off a
1m height concrete ring
beam (constructed by
others) which acts as both
foundations for the building
and protects from vehicular
movements.
Two 9m wide roller
shutter doors, personnel
doors, powered ventilation
and lighting were also
installed by Collinson.
Designed as a permanent
structure, Best-Hall Buildings
can also be relocated if
required. They consist of a
steel latticework superstructure
covered with a
tensioned PVC-coated
membrane. Capable of clear
spans from 10 to 100m,
lengths are from 24m, with
height to suit the project.
The white membrane allows
high levels of natural light to
enter. More articles from Collinson plc: |
