Waste transfer station complete October 1st 2006 Rubb Buildings has recently completed the construction of a waste transfer station for Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council. The building is to house the bulking and transfer operations for the household kerbside wheeled bin collection schemes that bring in co-mingled dry recyclates which are then sent to off-site Materials Recovery Facilities, and separately collected newspapers & magazines which go direct to the paper mill.
To accommodate these two distinct operations Rubb Buildings constructed a 30m x 45m BE type building with a leg height of 6.5m. The unit is divided internally into four sections; each area is accessed via a 4.5m x 4.5m electrically operated roller shutter door.
The creation of the four internal areas was critical in allowing the material to be deposited in the appropriate lanes, with the adjacent door being used by the outgoing bulk transport vehicle to stand in whilst being loaded under cover. More articles from Rubb Building Systems: |
