Alarm system thwarts thieves December 1st 2011 Stanley Convergent Security Solutions (Stanley CSS) has
been awarded the Sonitrol alarm monitoring contract
for two Stearn Electric distribution warehouses
National electrical distributor
Stearn Electric appointed
Stanley CSS to manage the
alarm technology at its Bristol and
Leighton Buzzard branches. Stanley CSS
is the exclusive provider of the Sonitrol
alarm technology in the UK.
Stanley CSS put in place a strategy to
quickly replace the old provider of the
Sonitrol system, including sourcing a
replacement board for the panel,
supplying qualified engineers to
undertake the work and programming
Stanley's ProtectionNet Customer Service
Centre (PNC) system to receive the
Sonitrol signals.
Stearn Electric Bristol branch manager
Alan Blackwell said: "I have been very
pleased with Stanley's response and the
manner in which they carried out the
repair and takeover. The alternative would
have been to install a new system at
considerable expense and disruption,
which I did not really want to do."
Alan recommended Stanley CSS to
other Stearn branches, including Leighton
Buzzard which has also appointed Stanley
CSS to take over their Sonitrol alarm
system.
Sonitrol provides organisations with
the ability to verify an alarm event in real
time by allowing operators to hear what's
happening on a monitored site. When an
alarm is triggered, the system
immediately alerts Stanley's PNC and
transmits the sounds of the break-in
attempt and a code describing the
location of the activated audio sensor.
Professional operators on duty around
the clock listen silently to determine the
nature of the noise and take appropriate
action, such as calling the authorities or
resetting the system. Such a facility
increases apprehension rates as intruders
are not alerted and police respond
quickly to a verified crime in progress.
False alarms can also be quickly
identified.
Steve Hopton, manager at Stearn
Electric's Leighton Buzzard branch
understands the value of the Sonitrol
system only too well. In one particular
instant he attended an alarm to find the
police present, but they were convinced it
was a false alarm as there was no sign of a
break in. Using the Sonitrol system Steve
was able to identify the precise location
where the suspects had been and
recovered stolen stock that the thieves had
left outside to collect on their return. More articles from Stanley Handling Limited: |
