Bendi replaces two old trucks October 1st 2005 When maintenance costs on its 18 year old reach truck and 25 year old counterbalance truck became prohibitive, lighting manufacturer, Jerrard Bros needed a replacement truck that would do the work of both its old trucks, operate in 2.1m aisles and be versatile enough to load/unload lorries in the yard.
Having drawn up a shortlist of articulating trucks and a 4-way reach truck, the company selected the Translift Bendi because of its favourable manoeuvrability and visibility, combined with the fact that Translift was prepared to modify the truck’s mast height to cope with low headroom.
Jerrard now has one rebuilt Bendi to replace the two ailing trucks. It has also bought another Bendi for a new warehouse acquired last March, which has been configured specifically around the Bendi. Replacing two trucks with one has enabled cuts in maintenance and training costs.
Other advantages include better use of scarce warehouse space and faster operation than the old reach truck. Also, thanks to the Bendi’s articulation, the driver has a much better view of the load when interfacing with the racking. More articles from Bendi: |
