Slow movers out December 1st 2010 Logistics consultancy, Davies &
Robson, has completed a project to
optimise warehouse utilisation and
efficiency for Fisher Outdoor Leisure,
effectively removing the need to
relocate to larger premises.
Fisher's 40,000 sq ft national
distribution centre, located at St
Albans, stocks some 7,500 products,
handles 300 orders per day and
provides a next day service.
Fisher appointed Davies & Robson
to undertake a review of its
warehouse operations and
functionality of the warehouse
management system.
The primary purpose of the project
was to determine the optimum design
and working practices, together with
identification and definition of the
technology required to support these.
Davies & Robson identified a series
of improvements, including the
identification and disposal of slow
moving and obsolete stock, the
optimised location of product within
the warehouse, enhanced storage
utilisation and presentation and
system changes to improve the
efficiency and accuracy of order
picking and other key warehouse
functions. More articles from Davies & Robson Logistics Ltd: |
