Cardboard problems crushed by Compact & Bale June 1st 2006 When Nick Jewitt of GBM Services was tasked by Capital Shopping Centres with kick-starting a major push on recycling at Lakeside Regional Shopping Centre he turned to Compact & Bale to provide a solution.
"The first thing we did was to install new Durapac baling presses from Compact & Bale so we could segregate and present our waste materials for recycling," says Jewitt.
Two vertical mill size Durapac CB-52 balers deal with tenants' waste films and a large aperture, continuous feed Durapac CB-65 processes large volumes of loose cardboard from around the centre into 700kg bales.
GBM now recycles waste materials such as paper, magazines, film, garment wrap, metals, cages, wood, cardboard, batteries and cardboard. A major key to the success of the project has been the working relationship between GBM and Compact & Bale, as well as the 24-hour maintenance Compact & Bale provides on all centre waste equipment.
From zero recycling two years ago the centre achieved a 52% recycling rate during the final quarter of 2005. More articles from Compact & Bale Ltd: |
