Chivas toasts upgrade August 1st 2007 Scottish drinks firm Chivas
Brothers has awarded a
major handling
refurb contract to
Excel
Automation at
its palletisation
and automatic
dispatch facility
in Glasgow.
Alongside its reputation for
robust, quality systems,
Excel general manager, Gary
Sweeney (pictured), says its
ability to undertake design
work (both mechanical and
electrical) and manufacture
in-house was crucial in
winning the business.
The contract requires total
refurbishment of eight
stacker cranes complete with
new drives, introduction of
latest positioning control
technology and provision of
new two-person cabs. It also
requires the replacement of
numerous pallet
conveyors.
The lion's share of the
project is to dramatically
improve movement of
palletised loads from
packing stations into the
store and
simultaneously introduce
the latest packaging
technology with two stateof-
the-art weigh-stations
and two stretch-wrap
machines.
Excel has also
reconfigured the extensive
conveying areas using a
combination of twin and
triple strand chain conveyors
and powered roller
conveyors. More articles from Excel Automation Limited: |
