October 1st 2007 A major Portugal-based tyre
manufacturer recently
sought to overhaul its
distribution network to
improve handling
efficiencies and storage of
finished product. It
contacted BPS Logistica who
in turn contacted its UK
associate, Keymas Controls
and Automation.
The solution was to
design, manufacture and
install a stillage handling
system to automatically
convey tyres from the
manufacturing plant to a
new warehouse and storage
facility located several
hundred metres away.
The turnkey solution
included everything from
custom built
elevators/lowerators, chain
conveyors and turntables
and a special control subsystem,
enabling integration
into the factory wide
management system.
The complete project
included all civil work,
material handling
equipment, controls and
project management. It was
completed on time and to
