Anti bacterial shelving

Link 51’s Stormor shelving is now being supplied with anti-microbial ‘BioCote’ protection. Link 51 says the coating significantly reduces the risk of cross contamination in the workplace.

Centred on a versatile common design the shelving can be tailored to meet virtually any installation through a simple pre-formed slot and clip mechanism, according to the company.

Alongside shelving, customers can specify a choice of options including pull out drawers, work platforms and lockable doors as well as specialist garment hanging facilities and document dividers. Moreover its design has been shown to create up to 7% additional storage space as a result of strong thin sections. Because BioCote interrupts the cells’ ability to function by inhibiting reproduction of bacteria and fungi, it does not behave in the same way as antibiotics.

According to Link 51 there is no evidence of bacteria developing resistance to the coating. Marketing manager Emma Bloomer says the anti-microbial performance does not deteriorate over time, has been thoroughly tested in the UK, and has low toxicity against nontarget organisms.
