UV indicator tells the age of a work helmet June 1st 2008 Years of research and
development from Peltor
means it is now possible to
tell how old a work helmet
really is and when it is time
to change it because of too
much UV radiation. The new
technology consists of a
special type of UV indicator
built into the helmet,
showing when it's time for a
replacement.
The indicator is shaped like
a small clock. At the
beginning, it is filled with an
intense red colour. With the
passage of time and
exposure to sunlight, the
indicator gradually loses its
colour. When it has turned
completely white it is time to
change helmet.
Not only does the UV
indicator enhance safety, it
also prevents work helmets
being disposed of before it is
necessary.
As production gets fully
adjusted to the new
technology, all new Peltor
helmets will feature the UV
indicator. |
