Get work at height right April 1st 2007 Scafftag's latest tagging system is designed to manage the inspection, maintenance and accurate identification of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) such as cherry pickers, genie booms and scissor lifts. The system comprises two components: a holder which attaches permanently to the equipment; and replaceable inserts. Inserts are completed as inspections or maintenance is carried out and placed in the holder to display latest status. Removing the insert at any point displays the prohibition (Do Not Use) symbol on the empty holder. The MEWP Tag provides multiple attachment options (cable tie, adhesive, screw or rivet) and the tag contains a quick-reference MEWP inspection checklist. According to the company, the new tag will help those using the equipment comply with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the HSE's advice in this area. The WAHR state that employers must check that 'equipment for work at height is properly inspected and maintained'. Scafftag says the MEWP system is a simple way to help manage this obligation.
