Relief valves for dust, oil or gas explosion protection August 1st 2005 Anywhere dusty media are conveyed or stored, explosions may occur.
Hoerbiger says its relief valves offer protection against explosions via an integrated flame absorber which intercepts the jet flames occurring during an explosion, and which reduces the exit temperature of explosion gases.
Fast-reacting, the relief valves, open at a standard set pressure of 0.05 bar and therefore are also suitable for relief action in closed spaces and work reliably in any installation position.
According to Hoerbiger, the valves’ robust design allows them to withstand explosions without damage.
They close tight after the explosion, preventing secondary explosions, and enable uninterrupted operation after the explosion.
ATEX certified, Hoerbiger claims the relief valves ‘showed the best results’ during several explosion tests by the authorised FTZU institute.
Originally designed for the protection of large diesel engines against oil mist explosions in the crankcase, the valves are equally at home protecting containers, silos and pipelines. |
