All round vision boosts safety
April 1st 2007

Reversing safety equipment specialist, Brigade Electronics used IMHX to promote its allround visibilty products – covering front, rear and side views

Forklift trucks are the most likely cause of an accident in the handling and storage environment. But by fitting simple and effective products, safety can be improved dramatically. Brigade Electronics has a complete range of alarms, including its unique broadband sound bbstek alarms, rear detection systems, mirrors and compact CCTV cameras and monitors to suit all applications and budgets.

Traditional narrow-band movement alarms reflect off one surface after another, particularly in warehouses, so giving the hearer erroneous location signals. This has been the cause of numerous collisions, including fatalities, with people who look and move the wrong way. Broadband (or multifrequency) sound gives the hearer accurate signals. Additionally, broadband sound, (a gentle 'Shh….shh….shh…') is gentle on the operator's ear as well as on the site workers. A further bonus is that broadband sound is equally effective at lower decibel ratings.

FLTs generally operate equally in both forward and rearward directions so broadband sound horns are supplied both as driver operated push-button forward horns and as automatically operated reversing horns.

Brigade's BACKSCAN rear detection systems and reversing sensor, and its Bubble mirrors, help users manoeuvre more safely. The half or full moon Bubble mirrors are designed to provide a wide view of the area behind the fork-lift truck.

A further addition to vehicle safety is the availability of compact CCTV systems with small monitors and compact cameras that fit even the smallest of plant and vehicles.

One example is the BE-835M TFT LCD colour monitor.

With its compact 3.5 inch (89mm) screen the BE-835M fits the tightest of spaces and when paired with a compact camera, provides drivers with clear, high resolution pictures of all areas around a forklift, van or truck. Call the number below for more info.
